Barack Obama 44th President of the United States

Sitting in front of the television in Canada, the boys nestled beside me. They are confused a bit as to why I've been glued to the television for the past several hours as the electoral votes came pouring in and by a landslide basically making Barack Obama the 44th President and the first African American President of the United States.

Jake asked me why it was so important because Obama isn't Canadian. And I won't lie when it comes to politics I'm a few screws loose of knowledge. But you don't have to know politics to realize how important this world changing event is. And so I began to explain to Jacob the oppression African Americans suffered which he knew a bit about and that having Obama as President will change the world as we know it.

For the better I believe. I pray and hope. It surely was something to watch not only the American's who put us Canadians to shame by coming out to vote but around the world like from his home in Kenya. The impact this is having is incredible and nothing has been seen like this since Kennedy was made president.

I am still watching and waiting for the him to speak in Hide Park in Chicago so I have to run. But I have to say good for you Mr. President, good for you for uniting people and bringing some form of inspiration back into the cage of politics.

I hope the next four years are good to you...

RETRACTION

OOPS...

During all my excitement and then later due to the nice comment sent to my in-box that I have goofed the facts due to lack of well being just so drawn in by the man himself and not the facts of where he came from. I could just modify and correct them, however that wouldn't be fair.

I stated above I am still watching and waiting for him to speak in Hide Park in Chicago. when in fact it was Grant Park. Hyde Park district is where Barack Obama apparently lives.

I will not fib I was switching back and forth between the election report and the Canucks taking a 3-0 lead which also boosted my excitement and didn't quite pay attention to the facts the way I should have. Oprah was also there and I was mesmerized... I love her.

I also stated Barack Obama was from Kenya when in fact that is where his father was from (NOT HIM) before his father perished in a car accident in 1982.

Barack Obama is actually from Hawaii. He was born at Kapi'olani Medical Center for Women & Children in Honolulu.

My intentions were meant to be good. Sorry for the goof up of the facts but it still remains I was feeling excited about witnessing this amazing event. I was drawn into the man while listening to him speak at (GRANT PARK) LOL. He is poetic and had me in tears even though I'm Canadian. This event, this multicultural connection is something for the history books and I was glad to be here to see it.

Thank you Two Guys Sports for setting me straight (*wink) I appreciate it.

I truly love the enthusiasm that so many non-Americans show for an election that they can't vote in. It is nice that many realize just hos historic it is for so many reasons.

I am looking forward to the next eight years!

No problem. i just knew a few people would tear apart your support and enthusiasm because of two small oversights.
